The Gods

{ The Gods were an English rock band founded in 1965. The original band members included guitarist Mick Taylor, drummer Brian Glascock, his brother John on bass, keyboardist Ken Hensley, and Joe Konas. In 1967, Lee Kerslake joined on drums (replacing Brian Glascock), Paul Newton joined on bass (replacing John Glascock), and Greg Lake joined on drums (replacing Kerslake). Newton would leave the same year he joined, Lake would leave in 1968, and Kerslake would stay with the band until 1969. The band specialized in progressive rock and psychedelic rock and released three studio albums during their time together: Genesis in 1968, To Samuel a Son in 1969, and Orgasm in 1970 (as "Head Machine"). The band would later break up in 1970, and its members would go on to join other groups. Taylor would join bands such as John Mayall's Bluesbreakers and the Rolling Stones, Glascock would join Jethro Tull, Hensley and Kerslake would join Uriah Heep, and Greg Lake would later join groups such as King Crimson and Emerson, Lake & Palmer. {
